General purpose of position

~~Provide polished financial writing, editorial support, research and analysis, and project management for IR/Communications department

Primary duties/responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities
Produce world-class corporate, IR and marketing communications for a diverse audience of institutional and retail fixed-income and equity investors, capital market professionals, government and corporate finance officials and the public

Specific Responsibilities
• Write or edit press releases, CEO’s quarterly earnings commentaries, annual reports, web content, advertising, collateral marketing materials, PowerPoint pitchbooks, speaker’s notes, executive correspondence and other written material in collaboration with others inside and outside the department
• Research and analyze internal and publicly available information to gain insights into economic and market conditions, business developments and competitive positioning
• Convert technical information to concise plain English that persuasively communicates both the factual detail and the significance of the information to specific audiences
• Assist in maintaining corporate brand standards and a consistent corporate narrative in materials produced both within the department and in other departments
• Work with Legal and Finance departments to assure their approval of content
• Review materials produced by other departments for use outside the company
• Manage communications projects effectively to achieve results and meet deadlines

• Ability to write with clarity, precision, and impeccable usage, syntax and punctuation
• Comfortable using financial information to create insightful narratives (e.g., CEO’s quarterly earnings commentary)
• Strong curiosity about business, financial and economic issues and desire to learn
• Meticulous attention to detail; thorough and accurate research and fact-checking skills; analytic ability
• Ability to adjust writing style to suit the medium, the audience or the speaker
• Highly motivated self-starter able to work both independently or collaboratively on a team
• Professional and cordial demeanor, with ability to obtain information from and to work effectively with senior executives, as well as peers and subordinates
• Ability to plan, organize and complete multiple simultaneous projects under both hard and unfixed deadlines
• Proficient in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and in analyzing statistical data in Excel
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of trends in digital marketing and social media would be helpful

Education, certifications and/or experience requirements

Ten years of business experience involving extensive writing for external audiences in a financial services, banking, insurance, rating agency or accounting firm, in an investor relations or B2B marketing role in any industry, in an investor relations or public relations agency, or in business journalism
Baccalaureate or higher from an accredited institution; strong liberal arts foundation with MBA or undergraduate economics or business major preferred
