General purpose of position

Assured Guaranty is seeking to hire an Information Security Engineer. The goal of information security is to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets. The information security team is responsible for defining and implementing security policy and standards and continuously monitoring for new threats. The Information Security Engineer is part of the information security team, reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer, and contributes to the information security program by developing and implementing technical solutions.

The Information Security Engineer is responsible for the evaluation, design, implementation, and administration of security systems and secure configuration of on-premise and cloud based enterprise technologies.

Primary duties/responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Information Security Engineer will include:

Implementing, administering, and supporting both security systems and security capabilities of enterprise technologies including:

Active Directory, Group Policy, and Federation Services
Microsoft Azure and Office 365 Applications
Amazon Web Services
Email Security
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)

Secure Configuration of Operating Systems and Applications (Hardening)
Privileged Identity Management
Physical Access Control and Surveillance
Researching, developing, testing, and performance tuning solutions to security challenges.
Evaluating security products and vendors and providing recommendations.
Performing security assessments of new applications and changes.
Managing implementation of security projects.
Assisting with response to security incidents.

Specific skills, competencies, resources and/or software/technology used on the job

Strong technical knowledge and experience with security systems such as firewalls, multi-factor authentication, SIEM, privileged identity management, and email security.
Good understanding of information security standards and regulations applicable to the insurance and financial services industries.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other related discipline. Or equivalent work experience.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent certification a plus.

Education, certifications and/or experience requirements

6-8 years infrastructure and/or security engineering experience preferably in the insurance or financial services industries.
Expert technical knowledge and experience configuring security policies for:

Active Directory, Group Policy, and Federation Services
Microsoft Azure and Office 365 Applications
Amazon Web Services
Windows Operating Systems
