Assured Guaranty Condemns Religious Hate Crimes and Discrimination

July 12, 2021

Physical violence and threats against Jews and vandalism against Jewish houses of worship have escalated this year, while Islamophobia continues to drive similar incidents against Muslims. Assured Guaranty forcefully condemns intimidation and acts of hate against anyone, including those based on real or perceived religious, ethnic, racial or national identity. Stereotyping, discrimination, menacing and assault have no place in civil society, nor does the dissemination of baseless smears about any group, such as centuries-old canards and conspiracy theories about Jews and Jewish individuals.

Assured Guaranty affirms our respect for the inherent dignity of every person and encourages the conscious commitment to fairness for each individual.

On June 10, 2020, we published our statement of support for Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice and announced our commitment to charitable initiatives on behalf of organizations whose work promotes a safer and more equitable society. In keeping with those values, we are contributing $25,000 to the Anti-Defamation League’s No Place for Hate program. The ADL has long opposed not only antisemitism but also Islamophobia and all forms of religious discrimination, scapegoating, racial injustice, anti-immigrant bias and denial of LGBTQ rights. Its No Place for Hate program works with pre-K to 12 schools to combat all types of bigotry and bullying. The program includes distribution of ADL-developed materials, multi-media educator training, and support and consultation for participating schools that seek to foster equity and harmony in the school community.

We also continue to support our employees’ interest in building a more fair and harmonious world by matching, dollar for dollar, eligible donations they choose to make to qualified charities.
