Assured Guaranty’s Structured Finance Department underwrites guarantees for obligations of state and local housing finance agencies and federally guaranteed or state-sponsored student loan programs.

Housing Finance Agencies

We have insured a broad range of single family and multifamily affordable housing issues,  tax-exempt and taxable.   State housing finance agency issues are eligible for bond insurance policies covering principal and interest and for surety policies that take the place of cash-funded reserves.  

Student Loan Programs

We insure state-sponsored alternative student loan transactions, combining our capabilities in municipal and structured finance underwriting to guarantee both taxable and tax-exempt issues.  Issuers we have worked with include the Maine Educational Loan Authority, the New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority and the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority.
