Assured Guaranty Statement Opposing Violence and Discrimination Against Asian and Pacific Islander Communities

The recent pattern of appalling threats and violence targeted at Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, in addition to so many other biased incidents, compels us again to speak out against all forms of discrimination and acts of hate against people because of their race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity. These violations of human rights cannot be tolerated if we are to live in a just society that provides freedom, safety and opportunity for all.  

We emphatically denounce racism, hate and violence and stand with every group and individual striving to escape from stereotyping and discrimination in order to gain the full respect and opportunities we all deserve. Within our own company, every employee is encouraged to do their part in the fight against prejudice — both conscious and unconscious.

In keeping with the values we expressed in our statement of support for Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice published on June 10, 2020, we are initiating a philanthropic initiative for charities that support Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, with immediate contributions of $25,000 to each of Apex for Youth (apexforyouth.org) and the Asian American Federation (aafederation.org). We also continue to support our employees’ interest in building a more fair and harmonious world by matching, dollar for dollar, eligible donations they make to charitable organizations whose work promotes a more equitable society.
