General purpose of position

 This position is within the Reporting, Information, Systems, and Compliance (“RISC”) Surveillance group. As a member of the RISC team, the new hire will be involved with creating exposure reports and tables related to Assured’s $291 billion of consolidated exposure to structured and public finance transactions, ensuring and documenting compliance with various internal and Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) controls, and identifying and resolving data discrepancies in the Company’s internal Core Database. On occasion, there will be a need for designing, testing, and implementing new and/or enhanced systems and processes to fulfill the Company’s needs.

Primary duties/responsibilities

- Validate the Company’s public exposure disclosures, including SEC filings and operating supplements
- Fulfill diverse ad-hoc requests from internal and external parties in a timely manner
- Maintain organized records of internal and SOX controls surrounding Surveillance processes and procedures
- Assist in various projects including system enhancements, rating agency reviews, etc.
- Periodically update debt service projections maintained in the Core Database based on updated model runs
- Spot, confirm, and resolve any data inconsistencies
- Identify potential needs for system and process improvements
- Help to define requirements for proprietary software enhancements and modifications
- Analyze portfolio trends and communicate financial impacts of market forces

Specific skills, competencies, resources and/or software/technology used on the job

- Excel analysis with a strong knowledge of v-lookups and pivot tables
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex problems both verbally and in written forms
- Understanding of systems and databases
- Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks
- Exposure to a wide variety of departments including Surveillance, Accounting, Underwriting, Public Relations, and IT
- General understanding of financial markets and industry as a whole

Education, certifications and/or experience requirements

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Desired: experience with a rating agency, public or structured finance products
