General purpose of position

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the risk management framework for Assured Guaranty’s International division, which incorporates two European subsidiaries (regulated insurers in UK and France).

Primary duties/responsibilities

  • Manage the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) processes and support in the CRO in drafting ORSA reports.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the risk management function.
  • Support the first line in the implementation of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) policies and core risk policies.
  • Maintain risk management records including risk policies, risk registers, risk incident reports, ORSA use log, supporting notes, analysis, and calculations.
  • Monitor position against risk appetite, tolerances and limits and other risk metrics.
  • Validate the assumptions in the Economic Capital Model and carry out stress and scenario testing.
  • Support in drafting and presenting quarterly reports for the Risk Oversight Committee and Board as necessary.
  • Monitor and respond to developments in the regulatory framework and respond to regulators’ requests for information.
  • Monitor the integrity and robustness of credit assessment in underwriting and surveillance processes, including the internal credit rating process.
  • Monitor and assess the financial implications of climate change.

Specific skills, competencies, resources and/or software/technology used on the job

  • Knowledge and experience of the UK prudential regulatory environment and Solvency II.
  • Knowledge and experience of capital adequacy assessment (Solvency II standard formula and using internal model).
  • Professional qualification in accounting, actuarial science or similar preferred.
  • Credit risk experience preferred but not essential.
