Systems Infrastructure Engineer

General purpose of position

Assured Guaranty is looking to add a Systems Infrastructure Engineer to our Information Technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for design, evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of operating system, virtualization, storage, and network infrastructure. The successful candidate must display the ability to independently and proactively resolve infrastructure problems, perform root cause analysis and problem resolution.

Primary duties/responsibilities

  • Assist in IT Operations projects, system migrations, and hardware refreshes.
  • Image, deploy, maintain, monitor and patch physical and virtual machines.
  • Script automated solutions for day-to-day operations using tools such as PowerShell, Cheg, Puppet.
  • Provide an escalated level of support to expedite the resolution of security, development, and service desk issues.
  • Maintain and monitor backup solution.
  • Properly document incidents using ITSM ticketing and adhere to IT operational, security, and architectural standards.
  • Available for occasional weekend work.

Specific skills, competencies, resources and/or software/technology used on the job

  • Working knowledge of:

           - Windows / Redhat Operating Systems
           - VMWare ESXi, vCenter, NSX, SRM
           - Firewalls
           - Network Management
           - Scripting in tools such as PowerShell
           - Active Directory
           - SCCM

  • Experience with maintaining infrastructure and connectivity to cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, GCP 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with focus on response time.
  • Ensure that steady state operations are maintained to meet or exceed performance levels expected by the business.
  • Practical work experience in IDLC processes such as Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Work on generating and maintaining technical standards.
  • Keep up to date on all supported software to ensure AG maximizes their investment in IT.
  • Assist with testing of DR plans annually, document findings/issues.
  • Experience with VMWare Horizon VDI, Exchange Online, Office365, Teams, PowerShell, Group Policy Management

Education, certifications and/or experience requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of relevant IT experience with demonstrated knowledge of basic to moderately complex hardware and software products and problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
