Michael Winch is the Chief Credit Officer of Assured Guaranty. Mr. Winch was previously Chief Credit Officer, International, for Assured Guaranty, a role he held since 2017, with responsibility for underwriting oversight at Assured Guaranty UK Limited (AGUK) and Assured Guaranty Europe (AGE). He joined Assured Guaranty in 2008 and has held senior credit and surveillance roles, including Head of Underwriting Oversight at AGUK and AGE and Chief Surveillance Officer of AGE.

Previously, as Chief Surveillance Officer of AGE from December 2011 to May 2017, Mr. Winch was responsible for a team that monitored a $30 billion pan-European credit portfolio covering infrastructure, utility and local government transactions. Before joining Assured Guaranty, he held credit and risk management roles at ABN AMRO Bank N.V., Clydesdale Bank PLC and HSBC Bank PLC.

Mr. Winch received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Financial Services from the University of Manchester and passed the Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers examinations, 2005. He also holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
